DAS SeriesDAS Series ~ Manual or Automatic Shift

  • 1 to 4 Speed Transmission
  • 40hp to 1,000hp
  • Maximum reduction 5-1
  • Contact our office for higher reductions

The DAS series of industrial transmissions is recognized by its split housing, parallel shafts, and heavy bearing carriers. Utilizing helical gearing, DAS units are available in 1 to 4 speeds and have capacities ranging from 40 to 1,000hp.

Encoders

Encoders for velocity and position control. Available on most Drive-All Transmissions to easily determine output RPM. EncodersOur encoders feature a large bore thru-shaft and a 100°C operating temperature. Applications using encoders include wire & cable machinery, conveyors, food processing equipment, textile machines, material handling and more.

Limit Switcheslimitswtch.gif (5110 bytes)

Limit Switches for non-contact switching, fast changeovers and easy adjustments. Applications using encoders include wire & cable machinery, conveyors, food processing equipment, textile machines, material handling and more.

Materials

Housings

are made from high-quality, close-grained gray cast iron or an aluminum alloy. They are correctly proportioned and of sufficient thickness to withstand severe stress. Units are painted unless otherwise specified.

Gears and Pinions
are made from high quality alloy steel. They are cut on modern gear cutting equipment and shaved to precision limits. All gears and pinions are heat treated to provide the proper hardness and tensile strength to carry any load within their designed capacity.

Shafts
having pinions cut integral are of alloy steel bar or alloy steel forgings and are heat treated according to standard practice.

Bearings
are of ample size to permit overhung loads. Constant speed and variable speed shafts are mounted on ball or spherical roller self-aligning type anti-friction bearings. Gears that are free to rotate on the variable speed shaft are bushed with high grade bearing bronze bushings.

Oil Seals
on both high and low speed shafts prevent oil leakage and provide protection for the bearings from dust and dirt.

Lubrication
is provided from the amply sized oil reservoir, lubricating gears and bearings. An oil level indicator is located in the housing to insure a proper amount of lubricant in all housings. Wherever splash lubrication is not effective to carry oil to gears and bearings, an oil pump is used to force-feed lubrication.

NOTE: Units do not contain oil when shipped.

Limit switches are available on units having 5hp or higher.

Maintenance Instructions

When shipped, this unit does not contain oil. Do not operate the unit until oil has been added.

Before starting, fill through plug on top of unit with MOBILGEAR 626 or an equivalent.

Where heavy loads or shock conditions prevail MOBILGEAR 630 should be substituted. In case of doubt, MOBILGEAR 630 will give a considerably higher margin of safety.

This lubricant should be changed after the first 100 hours, flushing the case out with light flushing oil. Thereafter, a change of oil every 1000 hours should be made unless there are unusual temperature conditions combined with intermittent high loads. A change of oil may then be necessary at one or three-month intervals.
